During the War of the Austrian Succession these lists include tallies of foreign soldiers, by their ranks within their armies. These tallies cover the armies of France, Hanover, and Denmark, as well as the Hessians.
These lists contain soldiers' names, ranks and regiments. The names of different regiments sometimes include the countries they served in.
These items reveal how the ranks of Irish soldiers and freed black men were arranged and paid. This enables the reader to compare their arrangement and their pay to English regiments over the years.
Colonels often 'swapped' between regiments to avoid less popular areas of operations. By comparing colonels' movements to known locations of the regiments they left, the reader might see which fronts were avoided.
